Ignite Your Future App Qavaa Innovate
Effective Date: 8/25/2026 Last Updated: 8/25/2026

1. About This Policy
Qavaa Innovate (“Qavaa Innovate,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Ignite Your Future (“IYF”) App. We are a nonprofit organization registered in the State of Maryland, United States.

This policy explains what information we collect through the App, how we use it, and the choices you have.

This policy describes our practices. It is not a contract and does not create rights or obligations beyond those required by applicable law.
Your use of the App is also governed by our Terms of Use, which cover acceptable use, ownership of content, disclaimers, and dispute resolution.

2. Who Can Use the App
The App is intended for people of all ages.

If you believe your child under 18 has provided us with personal information that you do not approve of, contact us using the details in Section 19.
Parents and legal guardians may contact us about information associated with a young person in their care, as described in Section 14.

3. Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you register, set up a profile, join an activity, complete a form or survey, submit work, or contact us, we may collect:

  • Your name and contact details
  • Your date of birth
  • Your country or general location
  • Your school, organization, or affiliation
account and profile details, including any profile photo
  • Your registration for, and participation in, events, workshops, competitions, and other activities
  • Project submissions and other content you upload, which may include photos, video, audio, or documents
  • Feedback and survey responses
  • Demographic information, where we ask for it to report to funders, providing this is optional
  • Information needed to keep participants safe at in-person events, such as emergency contact details and any allergies or accessibility needs you tell us about
  • Other information you choose to provide

Device permissions. Some features ask permission to use your camera, microphone, or photo library so that you can create or upload submissions. You can decline, and you can change these permissions later in your device settings. Declining may mean some features do not work.

Information collected automatically. When you use the App, we may collect device information, App activity, IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, and diagnostic and performance data.
We aim to collect only what we reasonably need to run the App and deliver IYF programs.

4. How We Use Information
We use information to:

  • Operate the App and manage accounts.
  • Run our programs, events, workshops, competitions, and other activities, and issue certificates, awards, and other benefits
  • Communicate with you about your participation and respond to your questions.
  • Understand how the App and our programs are being used, and improve them.
  • Keep the App and our participants safe, and investigate misuse.
  • Meet legal, safety, and organizational obligations

We may use aggregated or de-identified information, information that does not identify you, for research, reporting, program evaluation, funding applications, and planning.

5. Information You Should Not Send Us
Please do not send us information we have not asked for. In particular, keep the following out of profiles, submissions, surveys, free-text fields, and messages: government identification numbers, financial or payment card details, immigration status, passwords for other services, and personal information about other people who have not agreed to share it.

Where we do need sensitive information, for example allergies or emergency contacts for an in-person event, we will ask for it directly and use it only for that purpose.
If you send us information we have not asked for, we may delete it.

6. Content You Submit
Some IYF activities involve submitting projects, entries, or other content. Depending on the activity, your submission may be visible to judges, mentors, other participants, program partners, or the public.
Before you submit, remove anything you would not want seen, including your home address, phone number, school schedule, or images of other people who have not agreed to appear.

7. How We Share Information
We share personal information in these situations:

  • Service providers: We use other companies to help us run the App and our programs, for example hosting, email and messaging, authentication, and technical support. We provide them only the information needed for their work, and we require them by contract to use it only for that purpose.
  • Program partners: Where an activity is delivered with a partner organization, school, or sponsor, we may share the information needed to run that activity, for example registration lists or competition results.
  • Analytics and advertising technologies: The App includes third-party technologies that collect information for their own purposes. This is described in Section 8, and some privacy laws treat it as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information.
  • Legal and safety: We may disclose information where the law requires it, or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the safety of a participant or another person, to investigate suspected misuse of the App, or to protect the rights and property of Qavaa Innovate or others.
  • Organizational changes: If Qavaa Innovate merges with, or transfers its programs to, another organization, information may transfer as part of that change. We do not exchange personal information for money.

8. Analytics and Advertising Technologies
The App may use third-party technology and services to support functions such as hosting, communications, analytics, authentication, notifications, security, and technical operations.
The App may also contain links to external websites or services. Third-party websites and services may have their own privacy practices, and we encourage users to review their applicable privacy policies.

9. Photos, Video, and Program Media

  • Qavaa Innovate documents its programs: By registering for or taking part in an IYF event, activity, workshop, or competition, online or in person, you agree that we may photograph, film, and record the activity, and that we may use the resulting images, video, audio, and project materials to document, report on, and promote Ignite Your Future and Qavaa Innovate. This includes use on our website and social media channels, in newsletters and presentations, in funding applications and reports to funders and partners, and in press and program materials.
We do not sell participant images or recordings, and we do not license them to other organizations for their own advertising.

  • General event footage: At events and activities, we may capture and use general footage, crowd scenes, wide shots, and images of activities in progress without seeking individual permission.

  • Participants under 18: Before we feature an identifiable young person in promotional material, we obtain a separate written media release signed by a parent or legal guardian. Several states require written parental consent for this kind of use, and a privacy policy cannot substitute for it. Declining a release does not affect a young person’s ability to take part in IYF programs.

  • Asking us to stop: You or a parent or guardian on your behalf may ask us to stop using a particular image or recording by contacting us using the details in Section 19. We will honor reasonable requests going forward, although we may not be able to recover materials that have already been printed, published, or distributed.

10. Safety and Safeguarding
Qavaa Innovate works with young people. If we receive information suggesting that a participant may be at risk of harm, we may share that information with parents or guardians, program partners, schools, or appropriate authorities. In some circumstances the law requires us to report such concerns.

11. Communications and Notifications
We send messages related to your account and your participation in IYF programs for example registration confirmations, schedule changes, and results. If we send newsletters or other promotional messages, every message includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also turn off push notifications in your device settings.
You cannot opt out of essential messages about your account or your safety while your account remains open.

12. Security
We use administrative, organizational, and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure. We limit access to personal information to people and service providers who need it for authorized purposes.
No electronic system or method of transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. How Long We Keep Information
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the App, administer Ignite Your Future programs, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, meet legitimate organizational needs, or comply with applicable requirements.
When information is no longer reasonably required, we may delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it.

14. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live and the circumstances, you may be able to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong
  • Ask us to delete your personal information or your account
  • Withdraw consent you previously gave
  • Ask questions or raise a concern about how we handle your information

To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 19. We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Requests by parents and guardians. A parent or legal guardian may make these requests for a participant under 18 in their care. We will ask for reasonable proof of identity and of the parental or guardian relationship. We may decline or limit a request where we reasonably believe that fulfilling it would put the participant at risk, or where doing so is not permitted by law.

15. Account Deletion
You can delete your account and the personal information associated with it on the App or by contacting us using the details in Section 19.
We may keep limited information after deletion where we need it for legal, safety, safeguarding, or record-keeping reasons, for example a record that a certificate was issued, or information related to an ongoing safety matter.
Deleting your account ends your access to IYF programs and materials in the App.

16. Where We Operate and International Participants
Qavaa Innovate is based in the United States. Information we collect is processed in the United States, and by service providers operating in other countries on our behalf.

The App is not offered in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. We do not distribute the App through app stores in those regions, we do not market or direct Ignite Your Future to people located there, and the App is not intended for their use.

Participants elsewhere in the world are welcome. If you use the App from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and at your own risk, and you are responsible for complying with the laws that apply where you are.

By using the App, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy and data-protection laws may differ from those of your own country. We apply the protections described in this policy to all participants, wherever they are located.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland and believe we hold personal information about you, please contact us using the details in Section 19 and we will delete it.

17. Tracking Signals
Some browsers and devices can send privacy signals such as “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control. There is no common industry standard for how apps respond to these signals, and the App does not currently respond to them.
The controls described in Section 8 are the effective way to limit tracking in the App.

18. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the App, our programs, or legal requirements change. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above.
If we make a change that significantly affects how we handle your personal information, we will give notice through the App, by email, or by another reasonable method.
